About Me

I am a registered psychotherapist, which means my training, experience and supervision have been vetted and I am “authorized to treat, by means of psychotherapy technique delivered through a therapeutic relationship, an individual’s serious disorder of thought, cognition, mood, emotional regulation, perception or memory that may seriously impair the individual’s judgement, insight, behaviour, communication or social functioning.” See Psychotherapy Act, 2007, section 4).  I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University and, in 2005, graduated from University of Ottawa with a Masters in Educational Counselling.  I have received additional training and experience, to provide you with leading edge interventions, in the following therapy techniques:  emotionally-focused for couples, schema, mindfulness, grief recovery, cognitive-behavioural and acceptance and commitment.  It has been my privilege to have served adults and couples of all ages at the University of Ottawa Counselling Service, at LDS Family Services and in my private practice. I have been sought out to help people deal with a broad range of issues (abuse, anxiety, bereavement, cultural issues, depression, identity problems, loss, minority issues, relationships, sexual orientation, sexuality, spirituality, stress and suicide (including family debriefing)).  As well I have offered group therapy and created and presented many workshops in my workplaces to clients and clinicians and to the community at large on varied topics (including self-esteem, grief, couple issues, mindfulness and positive psychology). I work to give the best care possible to my clients, customizing my approach to their needs and I continue to consult books and journals so that what I offer you is informed by the latest psychological research.

In addition to the above, I have overseen the professional development and skills of Counselling Psychology Masters’ level interns.  I have also been designated a professional coach by Erickson College.

I maintain memberships in the following organizations:

  • College of Psychotherapist of Ontario
    • Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association
        • International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy
